ACC PROCESS
The process to be followed for any external modification or addition to your unit or its surrounding landscaping is prescribed by the Covenants and the Resolutions of the Board of Directors. As more fully described in the ACC guidelines (included as part of this website), Brookside is a thoughtfully and carefully considered quality residential community designed to preserve privacy in spite of the close proximity between units. The Architectural Control Committee is the instrumentality through which the intent and effect of the original architectural design is preserved. The Grounds Committee in cooperation with the ACC is responsible for approving any proposed changes to landscaping. For such alterations, refer to the Grounds Committee portion of this website.
The Architectural Control Committee (ACC) consists of three members appointed by the Board of Directors. The Committee applies the ACC guidelines adopted by Resolution of the Board in ruling on any application for any proposed modification or addition to any unit or its adjacent landscaping. Any unit owner triggers ACC consideration by submitting a written application containing the information as required in the Application section of this website. It is critically important for the applicant to discuss the proposed addition or modification with their immediate neighbors before an application is made. Not only is that the neighborly thing to do but also it helps the process proceed smoothly and expeditiously.
Upon considering the application along with any matters it deems pertinent, the Committee makes its recommendation to the Board. The Board will usually then just adopt that recommendation. In any event, once the Board decision is made, the President of the Board will notify the applicant of the decision.
